Successful Quality Control of 25 km of Welded Joints for a Six-Effect Evaporation Project
As TOYA Quality Engineering, we provided Second-Party Quality Control and Inspection Services for a Six-Effect Evaporation Project that commenced in December 2022. Throughout the project, all quality assurance activities were carried out in accordance with international standards, ensuring complete traceability at every stage of fabrication.
The project involved the fabrication of equipment using Super Duplex, 316L, and 316 stainless steel materials. Based on the Weld Log records established and maintained by our inspection team, a total of 25 kilometres of welded joints were completed with full traceability.
Approximately 25 qualified welders participated in the project, utilizing the following welding processes:
- Process 121 – Submerged Arc Welding (SAW)
- Process 131 – Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG)
Our quality control activities included:
- Full traceability management through Weld Log documentation,
- Monitoring and verification of welding activities,
- Visual Inspection (VT),
- Coordination and evaluation of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT),
- Verification of Destructive Testing (DT) results,
- Review of project quality documentation and manufacturing records.
Before production commenced, all 25 welders successfully completed qualification tests in accordance with EN ISO 9606-1 and were certified for the applicable welding processes.
In addition, TOYA Quality Engineering qualified and certified the project's welding procedures in accordance with EN ISO 15614, covering Material Group 10.1 (Super Duplex Stainless Steel) and Material Group 8 (Austenitic Stainless Steel – 316/316L) through the issuance of WPQR (Welding Procedure Qualification Records).
